U14 Blacks - Halifax Town
A very comfortable and well deserved 3-0 win for the 14s Blacks.
Halifax came with the purpose of trying to stop us playing through the 3rds, they dropped into a mid-high block which meant we had to be very patient with selecting the right moments to play into midfield but it did provide us with opportunities to play in behind their high back line due to them not pressing our CBs which we didn’t exploit as well as we could’ve done.
The first goal was a scrappy one but was well deserved after 10minutes of knocking on the door. Marley with the goal after good persistence in the box.
The 2nd goal came from great play down the right and a ball played across the box, the GK made a good initial stop but couldn’t do anything about the rebound dropping straight back at Zac’s feet for a simple tap in.
3rd goal was a penalty from Reilly which was won by a positive run off the ball into the box from Ben and was brought down by the Halifax defence as the ball was played to him.
Very pleasing to keep a clean sheet but more importantly for not allowing Halifax any real chances with dominant possession and good defending when needed.
Big game against soccer hub on Saturday which could be a massive game in the race for the league title.
