U10 Purple - Cov Jag Ultra

Leamington Brakes U10s Purple 2 vs Coventry Jaguar 2
After a tough first couple of cup group games Brakes came into this game playing for the love of the game. Having already faced two tier one teams they came up against a strong and physical Coventry Jaguar team on a beautiful morning for football.
The game started evenly with perhaps Cov Jag edging things in terms of chances but it was Brakes who took the lead when Sam fed Rufus whose powerful shot beat the keeper at his near post. The first half ebbed and flowed with both teams creating opportunities and eventually Jag got an equaliser. Both teams were playing some excellent football and the Brakes boys were very much standing up to the physical challenge they were facing. No one could break the deadlock before half time and the teams went into break at one apiece.
The second half followed a very similar pattern to the first with both teams asking questions and again it was Brakes who struck first when Toby finished neatly at the back post. Unfortunately they couldn’t hold on for what would have been a well deserved win given how the boys had fronted up after the disappointment of the previous weeks and Jag grabbed an equaliser to make it 2-2. Again both teams went for the win and Sam nearly won it when the keeper had to tip his long range effort onto the bar. However, defences held firm and the game ended in stalemate.
Brakes can now concentrate on extending their unbeaten league record happy in the knowledge that they already have a cup in the trophy cabinet and have shown that they can easily mix it with tier one teams.
