Boys U12 (2013) Premier White - Caragh Celtic
Naas U12 Premier White got their first competitive season off to a winning start away to Caragh Celtic on a lovely sunny afternoon. With some new faces, new rules and a larger pitch the lads settled well into the game peppering the Caragh goalkeeper with some long distance shots. The first goal came after ten minutes when Peter McBride broke from the right hand side of the box and finished with a low finish to the corner. Naas continued to dominate possession and their movement paid off when Kellum Finnegan finished off passing move after breaking from centre midfield. Debutant, Kian Shanahy, was unlucky to have a goal chalked off for a tight offside call as the half drew to a close with the score at 2-0 to the away team.
The second half started much the same as the first with good passing and movement from the Naas team with Caragh battling well. Half way through the second half Caragh forced a great save from Naas Keeper, Charlie Almeida, after a shot from the edge of the box. They wouldn't have to wait for long to halve the deficit though, scoring from a goalmouth scramble after a corner kick. Naas stayed on course though and it wouldn't be long until Peter McBride restored Naas' two goal lead with a well taken strike into the top corner of the Caragh net. That all but put the game to bed but there was still time for McBride to bag his hattrick with a lovely dribble and finish with the last kick of the game to give Naas a great start to the season. Special mention to Captain for the day Charlie Almeida, Centre Back Callum Hartigan who played well partnering debutant Jamie Dunphy and Max Kennedy in defence on the day.
Stiffer tests lay ahead for the lads but it was a super way to start the season off. Here's to more wins and laughs as they embark on their first winter season.
