U11 Turquoise 24/25 - Whetstone Wildcats

💜Today the u11 Turquoise made the away trip to Whetstone Wildcats.💜

With perfect pitch conditions and rare glorious sunshine the girls couldn’t wait to get started.

It was an excellent team performance from everyone. They all dug in and showed great effort and brilliant attitudes. Encouraged their teammates, talked well, passed well, pressed well and earned a well deserved win. 

Six goals from five different scorers is huge for us. It’s no secret that we’ve had times where we’ve struggled for goals so it’s really heartening to have so many different scorers. The clean sheet was impressive too. 

First half we contained the threat really well and our keeper didn’t have too much to do. Into the second half when they had two extra players, we had to really work hard to maintain it. Thanks to some excellent defending and some equally impressive saves, we managed the shutout! 

It was another week of having to rotate quite heavily and also asking the girls to play stints out of their favoured position. They all did so really well. We understand the disappointment of having to come off and not play every minute but even with that, the girls didn’t let it affect their attitudes and that’s a massive plus.

It’s early on in the season and we’re still trying to figure out strengths and attributes. I genuinely think we have a really really good squad and am excited for the rest of the season. Please make sure you praise the girls that little bit extra not only for the win and their performance but for showing the right attitude - it’s so so important.

Player or the match could have gone to any one of the girls today - it was 9 and 10s across the board. We ended up awarding it to two girls.

Mia 

Due to the confidence she showed in the second half. Her tackling and positioning was very good as it is most weeks but what we really enjoyed was her striding forward, controlling the ball, getting her head up and looking for a pass - one of which lead to a goal! Absolutely loved that 👏🏻💪🏻 

 Bella

When called into action she made some breathtaking diving saves. But the highlight today was her vision to switch the play and get her team mates pressing high up the pitch. Also a special mention for her well deserved clean sheet as well x
