U15 Yellows vs AllSkills Elite

On reflection, the lads will look at this game as 3 points dropped. In terms of passion and desire, it was 100% better than the last week or two's performances. There was a clear energy to win the ball, strong in tackles, winning 1v1s and regaining possession. However, after doing the hard work and having the ball, we seemed panicked and rushed in our next actions. We gave the ball away easily, often without understanding the full picture of our surroundings both on and off the ball and add poor pass quality (ball speed, accuracy) to this and we found we were using lots of energy to recover these situations. This is something we need to tidy up as a matter of priority.

When we did put it all together and we got the details right, we looked slick and dangerous resulting in chances. However, we need to be more consistent with this.

The opposition goals, 1 came from a corner that we struggled to defend against. Another, we allowed the player to travel into our area without a significant challenge and the third was a mix up between goalkeeper and defender from a long ball over the top which, all could have been dealt with better and avoided.

Our goals were superb, pressure from a back pass on the keeper saw Jack capitalise on the keepers mistake and slot home. The other, arguably a goal of the season contender already. The ball worked out from the back to the front down the right hand side found Jack in another superb position, travelling with the ball, beyond their left center back to the dead ball line and cutting back into the cage (scoring zone) for Adam to finish into the top corner. Nice to see our training coming into effect!!

All in all, a positive performance and a game we should have won in fairness. The disappointment from the lads at the end was evident but in a good way as it shows they know what they need to do. Tidy up the basics as mentioned above and we will have success but at this level, give the opposition gifts and they will punish us.

We learn, we rectify and on to the next one, well done lads!
