Boys U15 (2010) Premier - Suncroft

On a lovely Spring morning, our boys lined up against the surprise package of the season, Suncroft AFC. Prior to today's game, Suncroft had played 7, won 7, and conceded just one goal.
In an exhilarating display of skill and teamwork, the team put in a super performance with a commanding 4-0 victory. This was a statement win from the boys,!!!
Naas lined up in their preferred 3-5-2 formation and from the opening whistle, we set the tone, dominating possession and creating several early chances. It didn’t take long for the pressure to pay off as Kian Lawlor opened the scoring in the 6th minute with a cool strike from 6 yards, leaving the opposing goalkeeper with no chance, following good work from Aaron O Donnell. That goal settled our lads .
The team's confidence soared after the first goal, and they continued to press forward. Kian Lawlor doubled the lead finding the back of the net following the Suncroft defenders inability to clear their lines.
It was all Naas, with our back 3 having very little to do, but Freddie, Tadgh and Cormac snuffed out any threat very well, and were on the front foot all day long.
Naas continued to press, and after another period of pressure, won a corner on the right. The call came from the side-line for Max Galvin, to put it in on the keeper. Max did that and more. With his wand of a left foot, whipped the ball in, and it curled directly into the net. Max tells us he went for it!!
Suncroft created one chance in the half, which was excellently saved by our stand in goalie for the day, Matthew McCarthy.
Naas mgt knew Suncroft would come at us in the second half, and they showed their intent by playing 4 up front. Suncroft started the stronger, but they huffed and puffed and rarely threatened. Naas started to get on top again in the middle of the park, and played some lovely stuff on the counter attack. Naas put the game to bed midway through the half with the pick of the goals, which showcased quick passing and a lightning counter attack. Ben Harrington won the ball on the edge of his box, played a quick ball to Adam bracken, who moved the ball to Oisin Lynch. Oisn shifted the ball forward and found Aaron O Donnell , who dropped off the centre half and picked the ball up inside the centre circle. Aaron played a gorgeous through ball for Ned Keogh to run onto. Ned outpaced the centre half and with only the goalie to beat, slotted the ball home from 12 yards. From the edge of our box to a goal in 7 seconds. BRILLIANT AND GAME OVER.,
The boys maintained their intensity and should have had a couple of more goals, with Aaron O Donnell and Donnacha Hickey going close.
This was a brilliant performance by the lads and proved the KDUL predictions very wrong. Whisper it quietly but the league is not over yet!!!
Best for Naas were Tadgh O Neill and Freddie Cowdelll were excellent at the back, Max Galvin was excellent on the left wing, and Kian Lawlor took his goals extremely well. Special mention to our stand in goalie, Matthew McCarthy, who made a couple of cracking saves, his distribution was top notch
Overall, this match highlighted the team’s strong work ethic, and that bit of dog needed to win against these teams.
