U15 Calcio Talent and Select - York City Foundation
Similar to last week in that we played the better.football but didn't create enough opportunities to earn all 3 points.
Both teams did well to contribute to an entertaining game despite the lack of goals. The surface cut up quickly with players on both teams struggling to find their footing at times but despite this Calcio managed to play through the thirds and put together some nice phases of play by finding the free player in the middle of the pitch and switching to the other side.
With Calcio having more possession we found ourselves in York's half trying to breakdown a deep defensive block and on a tight pitch this inevitably proved to be difficult. York had a threat on the counter and created a few chances but the Calcio players showed enough desire to recover and did enough to keep a clean sheet.
There were some excellent individual performances and it was really pleasing to see players being brave to get in the ball and take responsibility to receive it under pressure when necessary.
Considering the conditions and the fact we only had 12 players available I think the players should be really happy with their efforts and a deserved point. Two games left in the league & If we can create a few more chances we should be in for a really positive end to the season.
