Away vs Leamington

Today the girls earned their win. I'm so proud of every single one of them.

First Half:

The weather wasn't the best today with a muddy pitch and rain. All the girls arrived cold but excited to play.

The girls started very strong, they were chasing every ball. When they got on the ball they made some good passes and movement, pushing up the pitch.

A very strong defensive line helped to prevent them breaking through on goal, some excellent driving out from the back from the defensive three.

The midfield tracked back and stole the ball high up the pitch when they were on a counter attack, helping us start a counter attack.

We looked very dangerous on the attack and had many chances, a ball played high with three runners on it saw in end up in their box. After lots of miskicks from their defence and a strong foot by Phoebe saw us scoring the first goal.

This boosted the girls confidence and they fought so hard to maintain their lead.

Unfortunately a mistake at the back from miscommunication  led to them managing to just see the ball over the goal line. It was a very unlucky goal, it just rolled over the line.

Second half:

The cold started to set in, with 5 subs it was hard to keep everyone warm. The girls were excellent and made their own drill to keep eachother warm. Great team work.

A change of goalie with Hattie making her debut in goal.

The girls wanted to win this game, they knew they could if they worked together.

Every single player battled for the ball, tracking back and making some amazing defensive tackles.

An amazing ball up the field saw Phoebe in a good position, she decided to shoot from outside the box. A miss handle by the keeper saw it go in.

The girls were extatic, they wanted to win even more now.

Some counter attack from leamington saw them close to scoring, a goal line save from Elizabeth prevented them.

Another change of goalie with Aimee offering to step up for the last 5 minutes. The girls literally didn't stop they knew the win was achievable.

We were wishing for the final whistle, and the ref delivered.

The girls had won their second ever game.
