S&L Juniors U10 Whites - S&L U9s
Friendly match against the very good U9's at Ashford Park school in cold and dry conditions. It must first be noted that the U10 blues played them and they were well beaten. These guys are like ninjas, they have a super coach and have some next level attack moves!
BEST game by far for a defensive perspective. We were SO good at the back, all those loose balls of old were definitely not there. Both their goals were lucky shots that just went it. The new formation seems to give a better balance than before. It was the most comfortable game to watch, even if we lost.
The team play was excellent. Distribution from the keeper up was much better. Every time we got the ball we made use of it, not giving it away immediately. We also had some key team members missing.
The only improvement points to note were the defenders doing too much too early (and they were GREAT overall). When they tried to mark too far outside the box it let oppo in behind. Call at you team mates (MF) to cover these positions so it allows us to cover those closest to the goal.
The other is we again need to listen when the coaches are talking. I know we're having fun (as it should be) but there's just a bit too much when the coaches are trying to give tactics or debrief post match. If we listen quicker there's more practice game time. We observed the other team today and it was another world! We need to be MORE like this!
Even though we lost to a great side today, the best thing was that we all had FUN (no matter what the result). We were 200 gazillion times better than the early matches so let's keep this up!
