U15 Yellows - EVO
It was super to see the lads together in our first match of the season and I was looking forward to seeing how they played together.
We started well, maintained possession for the majority of the first 20 minutes but didn’t really create many clear-cut chances. We connected well, movement was good and when we lost possession, we worked hard to win it back. We were a little sloppy at times, first touch, pace of pass and awareness of our surroundings could have been better and prevented having to recover the ball as much as we did.
The second 20 was better as we settled in and started creating better chances in the final third. Midfield connected the team up and an air of confidence and composure could be seen throughout the team. We were unlucky with a couple of chances and needed to be more direct in front of goal.
The lads were happy with their performances at halftime and knew that if they were more detailed in their actions, the chances would come in droves. However, a mad few minutes shortly into the second half, saw us concede twice totally against the run of play.
I needed a reaction from them, and I got one. The lads played some superb football, creating several good opportunities that should have been taken before finally getting a goal with 10 to go.
Unfortunately, despite a courageous come back, they couldn’t find the net which, they deserved to do.
The lads now need to reflect and think about their performances, asking themselves what went well? What could be better? What would they do different, if anything.
Lots of positivity despite the result, it’s how they played that was important, the results will come.
Well done lads
