Men's 1st XV - Lenzie
Oban men travelled to Lenzie on Saturday 24th August. Conditions were tough from the start with heavy rain and wind. Lenzie with the wind at their back kicked well for territory anytime they had the ball in their own half putting Oban on the back foot. With Lenzie capitalising on Obans errors through dropped balls or counter rucks Lenzie managed to build onto a lead 13-0 within the first 30 minutes. Oban started to gain momentum in the last ten minutes of the first half, Finlay Carmichael scoring for Oban just before the half time whistle. Half time score 13-5.
The second half started with Lenzie adding an additional 3 points pushing their lead to 16-5. After a heated team talk Oban knew they were going have to pull off something special to get back in the game. Both teams matched up well physically against one another but Oban’s resilience showed sparking a comeback to 16-19. Good passage of play from Lenzie got them a mismatch and made use of it scoring to make it 23-19. Oban using the wind well in the second half managed to pile on the pressure for yet another comeback to make the final score Lenzie 23 – 26 Oban.
