U15 Yellows - Yorkshire Elite
U15 Yellows lost 6-3 vs Yorkshire Elite
Game of 2 halves, lost the first half 5-1, won the second half 2-1.
First half - Started well in fairness but we are our own worst enemy at times. A lack of composure on the ball, mix that with sloppy passes and lazy movement off the ball meant we didn't connect well and offered them opportunities to pinch the ball and attack.
We didn't deal with the ball over the top, set pieces or their strongest player which constituted in the opposition finding it relatively easy to get in behind.
Add to that the amount of individual errors, losing possession in dangerous areas, misplaced or hopeful passes which all amounts to the reason why we conceded 5 first half goals.
This is something we are working on in training and if ever there was a time to see how our training is effective in a match, the second half was a great example.
Second half - gave them a goal very early on but then settled, found some rhythm, marked their strongest player out of the game and started to play. To sum the half up, we dominated for 37 minutes, connecting well, playing as a team, good passing and playing into areas where we are strongest. This gave us lots of opportunities and enough to go win the game if we'd taken them.
Had we had 10 more minutes, i think we could have had a good chance at levelling or even winning the game.
Massively encouraging based on the second half with a reflection of where we need to improve in the first half.
In simple terms, play every game like the second half and we will do well but we do need to focus on cutting out the basic errors.
Great performance showing character and belief to win the second half and dominate.
More of that please, team!!
