U13 Purple 24/25 - Hemel Hempstead town
U12 purple v Hemel Hempstead town
Today we hosted Hemel Hempstead at home.
We’ve played then before and lost 4:0 and we knew their players are big, strong and play with a lot of aggression. We have been preparing ourselves for this and trying a new formation to give us more strength in the centre.
We went for a 2-3-3 today and on kick off the girls went straight in. Our passing was superb and we kept possession of the ball. Hemel were obviously expecting an easy game and they were shocked that we were dominating the play.
The girls were playing as a real team and everything we’ve been working on during training was being displayed on the pitch. Gracie and Nyah in particular were running the entire pitch. Their work with Katie up front was brilliant. In the first half Gracie had three shots on goal but each time the goalie saved them! Katie then had a great opportunity and took a fantastic shot, but we just couldn’t find the back of the net!!
Hemel were trying their best to gain possession, but we were fighting tooth and nail. 💜🦩💜
when they did have few opportunities to get in our half, they were met with our Machine that is Amelia!! She is a powerhouse and has no fear whatsoever!! Lexi was also there in the back driving the balls out and slowing down their play.
half time 0:0
Second half we saw pretty much the same. We were playing the best we’ve ever played and again having many shots on goal. We nearly got our moment when Isla took a great shot and hit the cross bar, the ball bounced out we took a shot which nearly went in as the keeper fumbled with their player to get to the ball, but luckily they made the save.
90 seconds before full time Hemel took a shot. Sophie made a great save that saw the ball roll across the cross bar, it then fell just in front of the goal and Hemel took a shot which Sophie could only just touch with her fingertips and the ball fell into the goal. It was a lucky shot and we just couldn’t find an opening after that to score.
The girls were upset afterwards, but they should be so proud of themselves, just like we are. 💜 It was a fantastic game to watch and we played with real heart today. We couldn’t have done more.
