U14 Purple 24/25 - Welwyn Pegasus

GOG U13s Purple vs Welwyn Pegasus

First game back after the Christmas period for the girls and we welcomed Welwyn to Churchgate. 

We usually start slow when we have a little break, but today we started well. We moved the ball well with short passes between each other, creating some chances. Our defence wasn’t troubled at all and I don’t think their attack got near our goal throughout the first half. 

Mariah had a free kick just over the bar, Lily also had a few efforts at their keeper and Elisa also had a shot. We thought it might be one of those days but with a little mix up at the back the ball fell to Jess feet where she passes it to Lily J who hits it into the back of the net. 1-0

A great finish and definitely what we deserved. 

Half time1-0

During the break we were happy with the performance from them all and we said keep doing what they are doing, but we need a few more just to be comfortable. 

Second half starts and we move a few girls positions around. We start so fast and strong that I don’t think Welwyn knew what hit them, as Jess was making her runs down the right again and again. It was only a matter of time and as she went on them runs she makes a perfect cross right into Emma feet and makes it 2-0. 

With twenty minutes gone in the second half Mariah, who we all thought was getting elbows non stop went on her runs and run over a player to make it 3-0. A minute later we had another goal, and that was our debutant Bonnie! who was in midfield battled through a couple challenges and scored a well deserved goal. 4-0. She usually plays in defence but was excellent in the middle, winning battles non stop. We wasn’t finished there as Lily was played through by Mariah and makes it 5-0. 

A very comfortable performance, but as we got confident and excited as the game was drawing to a close we let them get a scramble in the box and the ball slowly makes its way to the goal. A little disappointing as our defence was solid throughout the game! Sofia, Maya and Seraphina are a force to be reckoned with and you could see the disappointment on their faces. 

A great show of character from them all.

A great welcome back for all the girls as we continue our push for the league. We was outstanding throughout the whole game and we now have to move onto next weeks opponents who are third in the league and going ok themselves.
