U15 Yellows vs York Foundation
After a heavy defeat the week before, we were looking to bounce back and get a result from this game.
We started really well and we dominated the first 10 minutes, playing some delightful football but struggled really to make an impact in the final third.
York managed to get a foothold in the game and put us under pressure which in turn caused us to panic a little. Due to the pressure, we started to make needless, individual errors and they capitalised on that.
York were efficient in our defensive third and found that lumping the ball over the top, was quite effective so they resorted to that which we struggled to deal with and the speed of the winger caused us problems in that scenario.
When we got the opportunity to play though, we played well and we looked good but it wasn't consistent enough. Some untidy first touches, wanting too many touches, lack of awareness, ball speed and movement a bit too slow allowing the opposition opportunities on too many occasions.
These are basic things that are constants in training and the lads need to be able to bring this into the game for 80 minutes.
That being said, we showed we are more than capable in the first 10 and the lads need to build on that.
We are a new team and the more we play and train together, the better the understanding will become and we will see it paying off on match day. Patience is key!!
I'll just leave you with this.....
There are no such things as mistakes, just learning opportunities!
Stay positive team. Be patient, respectful, disciplined and work hard and all will be good, we have a great group!
Thanks to all who offered in helping me out after my car broke down too, I really appreciated that!
