Girls U13's - Kenilworth wardens
This morning the u13s were away at Kenilworth Wardens, a team we hadn't beaten in a competitive match before.
The early start and the roadworks en-route certainly didn't help with preparations, and it showed as the girls looked a little sleepy at the start.
We had asked them to start looking for gaps in the opposition defence , and play through them for our strikers to run on to. In the 15tj minute, Holly latched onto one of these passes from Eva, and coolly slotted past the keeper.
We were unable to add to the tally before half time, but we were comfortably the better team , and disnt look like conceding.
The dominance resumed at the start of the second half, and again Holly latched in to a through ball, this time from Sophie, and rained calm to pass the ball past their keeper.
After this, Kenilworth found their feet and started to get into the game. If it wasn't for some solid defending, they could have grabbed themselves a goal, which would have changed the game.
We managed to get to full time without conceding though, and took another 3 points, which see us climb the league table into 2nd place 😀 🔼
Not the best performance today, but this was a game that we probably would have lost last season.
Goals
Holly ⚽️⚽️
Player of the match - Helen. Another great game at the the heart if the defense.
Parents player - Abby. Another strong performance from Abby, who has been so consistent this season.
