U14 Purple 24/25 - LGDA
GOG U13s vs LGDA
On a frosty morning, we travelled along the M25 to LGDA where we had to delay the start as the sun wasn't fully out to defrost the pitch. With both sets of coaches and parents in agreement that the conditions were better, we started half an hour later than we were supposed to.
We advised the girls today we had to be dominant from the first whistle and that's exactly what we did. Bonnie and Lily J were excellent. The opposition couldn't get through them both! With eight minutes gone, Mariah put us ahead with a good finish! A great ball from Emma, these two always work well together. 1-0. Elisa was dominating the right side with good runs and great skill. Our defence was fantastic as always, nothing went past the three of them. With twenty minutes gone, Mariah turned provider and played an excellent ball from left to right into Elisa's path. She beat a defender and shot right into the bottom corner. 2-0. Some great football was being played throughout the team and we were comfortable going ahead. Lana and Jess came on for Emma and Elisa and were straight into the game. Jess causing problems down the right straight away and Lana filling in up top putting pressure on their defenders. It didn't take long for them both to make an impact on the game. Jess went on her amazing runs and made one of the best crosses this season right until Lana's path and all she had to do was get something on it!
3-0 halftime
With one of the best halves we have played this season, we as coaches were so proud. We told them to continue the great work, but concentration was always key going forward.
The second half started and within thirty seconds we got our fourth. Jess straight into it! she went down the right and got close to the line, the ball may have been half-off. Their defenders stopped but Jess carried on and took a shot and the keeper parried it in. There was no whistle and no flag from the linesman so great work from Jess to always play to the whistle.
From then we slowed the tempo down and continued to dominate the game in all areas. One of their players had great feet and movement throughout the second half and we told Bonnie and Lily who took it in turns to control the middle and stop that threat.
Antonia who has been desperate to get a goal throughout the season was so unlucky with 6-7 efforts throughout the second half. But we told her to carry on and continue to get into the positions and it will only be a matter of time.
Emma hit the crossbar with a great stretch to even get a foot on it. But we finished the game as we started and that was fast and strong.
Full-time 4-0
An amazing game played with great direct play from all the girls. We as coaches have been ever so proud of the girls throughout the season and the end product is seeing the smile on their faces at the end of the game. (Long may it continue)
