CF U11 NL 2024/2025 (Corams Fields League) - London Prime

A frustrating day. 

We conceded second into the game due to one of our defdners slipping. The team dealt with this well however. Throughout the rest of the half the boys played well. They defended as a unit very well and managed to get the ball up the pitch quite frequently. They just were missing the final key pass to get the ball into the back of the net. The first half ended 1-0 but there were plenty of positives to take.

This unfortunately was not the case for the second half.  A couple of minuets in, we lost the ball in out final third due to us not moving it quick enough. This is especially fustrationing as I highlited this at half time. We then managed to pull one back after a fantastic long ball from Joshua found Abdi who made a great finish. After this however, very bad habits kicked in. There was a lot of ball watching and walking when not in possession as well as numerous players lacking positional discipline. This is something we have been working on in training for weeks yet it is something that the team failed to implement. This as well as the players losing motivation led to us conceding two very stoppable goals. The game ended 4 - 1.

There is a lot of improvement that must be made. However if no hard work is put in, it will not be achieved. In training they have all shown very psotive signs of improvement and understanding of the fundamentals of what is expected of them. On matchdays however, this has not been shown. I will continue to build upon what has already been established. I believe consistency at this stage is key. It is also my belief that there are mental barriers that must be worked on. If no effort is put in, if they constantly walk when our of possession, if positions are not adhered to and if they do not follow the absolute basics then we will continue to not win. I believe this team is capable of so much more.
