Apollo London FC - Stonewall FC
Mature and convincing performance from the boys at today's away game vs Stonewall Reserves. From the beginning of the match, the opponents were struggling to flow the ball forward as they were blocked by the pressuring midfield and attacking lines. After a sharp pass from the Apollonian right winger to the striker the latter came face to face with the opposite keeper and in his effort to dribble he was toppled onto the ground winning a cleat penalty free kick which was turned into the boy's first goal at the 8th minute. Effective passing from the boys at the 2/3 of the pitch created the chance to the Apollonian central midfielder to try a powerful strike outside of the opponents' large box area which found the target making the score 0-2 at the 10th minute. The opponents tried to react quickly and missed a good chance from header after their corner kick at the 18th minute. The second part of the first half showed Apollonians dominating in the game with effective passing and quick ball circulation. At the 35th minute a corner kick won from the boys brought the ball in the small box area of the opponents at the second post where Apollonian striker was lurking for frahing the ball in the opponent nets making the score 0-3. The second half started with an unexpected sub of the Apollonian right back due to injury resulting in internal changes to other players' positioning. The game became more messy with both Teams focusing on scoring without taking serious care of their backline. The boys didn't loose their composure at the front line though and after a very good passing in counterattacking conditions, the Apollonian AM received the final assist from the striker to successfully finish for the 4th goal at the 57th minute. Four minutes later, the same Apollonian AM won the ball rebound from a corner kick and powerfully stroke the ball from the top of the opponents' large box area increasing the score to 0-5. During the last 30 mins of the game, the opponent side pushed the boys with random attacking balls and finally succeeded the honour goal at the 75th minute. During the last 15 minutes, the game didn't have any remarkable moments, the boys controlled well the pace and at the end they celebrated a fair and clear victory giving them the required confidence and ambition for the upcoming difficult game against the leader of the League.
