Stockton Reserves v Pig & Fiddle

On yet another ‘humid’ day, the ‘heat’ would certainly be on Stockton today with a different line up to last week’s game. 4-5-1 formation once more, with Nozza in goal, Lewis Romero at right back, Jordan and Dave Ward at Centre Back and Gaz at Left Back. In midfield was Josh on the right wing, Callum on the left, with Mani, Dan and Captain Alex in the centre. Lewis Califano up top on his own AND he led the warm up!!!

The vocal element of that warm up carried through to the start of the game. Dan, Lewis Califano and Josh, linking well together to create a cross! Manu or Mani? Looked confident on his debut. After 12 minutes, the game’s 1st goal…STOCKTON. Lewis Califano creates uncertainty among the Pig’s defence and Callum latches on the ball to shoot and score. We looked strong. 2 corners in succession, sadly on 17 minutes they equalise. This, after Lewis Califano had a brilliant 1 on 1 situation with the keeper.

Really good one touch, two touch football was played by Stockton creating another opportunity for Callum, sadly offside. Resolute defending from Jordan, Dave, Lewis Romero, Gaz and Nozza at the back, so positive in possession too. Captain Alex, Dan then Manu with a shot at goal on HT, takes us in on a positive note.

Second half brings change and a lesson to be learnt for the manager possibly. “If it ain’t broke…don’t fix it”

Oscar on for Josh, Sam (Church), let’s pray for a win, on for Dan. The result, on 47 minutes, Pig score, nooooo!!! The usually composed Nozza giving the ball away. 2-1 to Pig. Stockton players had a battle on. Oscar looking up for it and even more confident on the ball than last week. Sadly on 61 minutes 3-1 to Pig, a drinks break then back on we concede immediately. 4-1 Pig. On 72 minutes, Stockton get back into things. 4-2, Callum setting up Sam for a tap in “Hallelujah”

The optimism muted a little after Pig score again 5-2, but the Pig’s defender offers us more hope by scoring an own goal. Assist from Manu! 5-3. Can we get more? No is the answer as Pig score a 6th and finish their scoring and our game there. 6-3 to Pig. Man of the Match for Stockton…Jordan Childs
