Open Age Women's Reserve Team - Dewsbury Rangers

A reverse in fixture due to pitch availability allowed Horsforth to take home advantage. 

The girls suffered an unfortunate loss last week, and were asked to put it aside and focus on bouncing back, which they did so quickly. 

It took 12 seconds for Maggies to take the lead, with Jess Cooke lobbing the keeper from outside of the box, with Leela Jones adding a second not so long after. 

The reserves saw themselves dominate on and off the ball, pinning the opposition in their own half resulting coming into half time with a 7-0 lead, which could’ve been a lot more if chances were put away. 

5 minutes after the restart, Zoe chased a through ball, which went under the rushing out keeper which resulted in Zoe having an easy tap in to make it 8-0 . 

Unfortunately, after the Maggies won back the ball, a Dewsbury player tore her ACL, which resulted in both the Dewsbury manager and the match referee to call the game there, with both of them agreeing to give us the 8-0 win. 

With 25/30 minutes still left to play, regardless if we were winning comfortably, the team wanted more goals to come our way which would’ve aided towards our already high goal difference. 

Speedy recovery for the Dewsbury Players who got injured, focus is now on Pontefract (H) to bounce back against them from the loss last week.

Sylvie is extremely talented, who managed to control the game with her excellent through balls and smart finishes to get herself a hattrick! Her second match with the reserves and she seems to have already made herself a star player for the team. 

Team Player: Izzy Day

A fullback who should be a winger, linking up to overlap constantly to be an attacking threat, whilst also having the work rate to cover the distance when attacking and defending to help us progress up the pitch or win back the ball. Always constantly working hard without ever putting a foot wrong.
