Ladies Social Team - Killinghall Ladies
Perfect footballing conditions today saw Horsforth St Margarets romp home to a 3-1 win at Rossett Sports Centre.
Horsforth took an early lead with goals from Steph and Kate Grime in the first half. An assist by Sian meant that Steph had time to control the ball before putting it in the back of the net. The second goal came from a corner and Kate Grime sent the ball screaming into the back of the net.
The defence were supported by Jenni Ross in goal, commanding the pitch from her position. Jenni had little serious work but was certain when the ball was at her feet, sending long goal-kicks to team-mates.
Trish and Megan played with their usual ambition and confidence in the midfield, impressing with hold-up play and their ability to drop deep and defend.
In the first half, the Maggies saw the return of their captain, Charlie who onto the pitch with her presence immediately felt.
Killinghall were forced to dig deep in the attack with pressure from Kirsty, who, sent the ball down to Kate Grime who took on their defence came very close to her second goal.
With fresh legs from Dixie, Ange, KPL plus a switch in keepers, the second half started quickly and the Maggies were getting the ball forward from the off.
With some strong battles and dedication to winning the ball, Charlie was unlucky to not get on the scoresheet.
The third goal came from Sian with a superb assist from Dixie. Sian passed it back to Dixie who then chipped it over to Sian, who saw the keeper coming for it but kicked the ball over her head and into the net.
On the counter attack, Killinghall managed to put one past Horsforth but non deterred, HSM persisted with their dominance and Charlie persevered with some excellent travelling with the ball.
After a stoppage for Megans potentially serious knee injury, HSM held on strong to seal a victory.
