U10 Black - Sky Blues In The Community
A well deserved first win of the season, great effort put in by the team and they reaped the rewards of their hard work.
The home team went 1-0 up against the run of play with a strike from distance, Sky Blues looking dangerous up front with 3 very strong players who normally play in tier 1.
Max Messenger in goal pulled off a number of good saves which kept us in the game, the game started to open up a little and we saw the gap between our midfield and defence grow and grow which kept playing us into trouble, relying on James and Gurtaran in defence to bail us out with some staunch defending.
Brakes had to wait until 20 minutes in to the game until their hard work and good play brought them a goal James Faulkner getting his first of his hattrick assisted by Roman Fincham.
Half time
Second half and we started where we left off, on the front foot and playing some free flowing attacking football. James F put his second in and then very soon after Olly Wooldridge popped up with a very cool calm finish for his first goal for the club putting us 3-1 ahead.
We didn't need to wait long for the next goal and James F 3rd and final of his hattrick, it was a screamer striking from outside the box and finding the top left corner leaving the goalkeeper with no chance.
Sky Blues seemed rattled and a couple of their tier 1 players started to get a grip of the game and had some ball possession in dangerous areas, we struggled to maintain the solid defence and they found their way through with 2 goals in quick succession.
I was really proud of the way we held on at 4-3, gained our composure and continued to push for a further goal which came courtesy of Olly's second goal for the club which was a carbon copy of his first being one on one with the keeper and keeping a cool calm composure to slot the ball home.
Roman Fincham was awarded player of the match for a fine performance which included 2 assists, constant running, a real threat going forward taking on players and tracking back to help in defence.
