Girls U13's - Knowle Griffins

This morning the u12s faced a team from the Prem in the open cup

The girls did us proud against a team , 4th in the Premier league. For much of the game, they didn't look much better than us. We were a little unfortunate to go into half time 3-0 down, after we had given away 2 silly goals after defensive errors, and ball warltching. We asked the girls to step it up in the 2nd half, and start playing football like we know they can. After a couple of changes,  we looked lively with Helen and Eggie moving up front. After 5 mins, Helen found the back of the net after some dogged work from Eggie, chasing every ball down. This rattled Knowle , and for the next 10 mins or so we looked more likely to score again. 

Robyn made a couple of good saves, and the defenders stood strong to keep Knowle out, until they scored a couple of breakaway goals in quick succession to take the game out of reach. 

Alyssia made it 4-2, with a cracking free kick that went in off the far post. 

Unfortunately,  Knowle broke through the centre of defence again to add a 5th goal, a couple of minutes from the end. 

We were very proud of the girls efforts, particularly in the second half when they really put up a fight, and showed us how good they have become. 

No one had a bad game, and they all gave their best today, which is all we can ask of them. 

Player of the match went to Eggie, who added real impetus up front in the second half, and battled for every ball, until she took a ball to the face late on. 

Parents player went to Robyn for pulling off some good saves , and keeping the score down in the end.
