Open Age Women's First Team - Route One Rovers

A big game this week as Route One Rovers sat top of the league with a rather large goal difference. 

The ladies were asked to bounce back from the recent draw and defeat and that’s exactly what they did this week. 

The game began with an extremely fast start with the ladies establishing their dominance and keeping the ball. We immediately saw a chance on goal as Lily Stancliffe broke through playing the ball across goal, falling to Joni Stainton who calmly placed it in the back of the net, 1-0 inside 5 minutes.

What followed was truly impressive as we saw a flood of goals leaving us 5-0 up within 20 minutes. The second goal of the game also fell to Joni Stainton who rifled it into the bottom of the net to make it 2-0, followed by Rosie Moor pressing from the front to win the ball and make it 3-0. Joni Stainton wasn’t satisfied with two breaking down the wing and with her fancy footwork managing to slide it into the bottom corner completing a Hatrick within 15 minutes. Rosie Moor then broke free and rifled one into the back of the net to make it 5-0 followed by Emma Lumsdon who broke through to make it 6-0, a well deserved goal after pulling the strings in the midfield.
