S&L Juniors U10 Whites - Guildford Saints U10 Lynx

What a win!
Nice sunny, but cold day on Matthew Arnold's 3G 7-aside pitch. Steve did another fantastic job as ref!
For me, a good example of how far we've come was shown by the 2nd goal. Us of old may have had a shot and everyone would have watched, today we ANTICIPATED and went for the 2nd and 3rd balls, finally getting the goal. The other 2 goals were great, this was just a great example of our improved play. Examples were evident all over the pitch.
The table-fuss style 2-2-2 worked well today. We seemed to boss the battle in midfield but could still get wide in attack. They set like we used to with a striker, and one of their best players, and we limited their chances to very few. Our right and left forwards can interchange and sit a bit deeper, making 3 banks for oppo to break down. When the ball did get through midfield, our defence did a great job of mopping up.
Balls were cleared from defence, without taking risk, to great effect. The ball was rarely loose in our box.
Being goal-side, marking all attackers in set pieces and general man for man cover when oppo is in attack all much, much better.
To step up another level we can release the ball sooner for a pass. From the side-line we can see these open players, but appreciate on the pitch is a bit more difficult with everything going on. Sometimes this leads us to giving the ball away.
That winning feeling is great, and long may it continue. Keep up the great team-work!
