S&L Juniors U10 Whites - Guildford Saints U10 Lynx
Home match on Pitch 4 with Steve as ref (super job!). Pleasant sunny autumn day, pitch slightly wet/ muddy.
a game of two very different halves, randomly grouped as 1st and 4th and 2nd and 3rd! 1st quarter we played so well, unlucky to concede a very early goal. Maybe we need to start will full attention and expect anything.
2nd and 3rd we lost it a bit. We lacked belief we could win: stopped running, pressing and getting into good passing positions. All got a bit walkie. Good job we are a great team of great players that can come back from anything!
4th quarter was a different game. Belief came back and we started making some excellent passes and runs. In truth it looked like we could conjure a 4 goal winning comeback! ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE WHEN WE TRY.
We showed good variance (UNPREDICTABILITY!) in corners, throws and goal kicks. Good to see a lot of possession for us as a result.
Clearing the box was good, maybe not to the standard of last week, but much better than before.
For training work:
I think we need to press the ball more when outfield, when we did we often turned the ball over and had chances ourselves. We stood off a bit today.
Don't all get sucked to the ball. Others cover the opposition runners or expect us to make a tackle and expect pass (get in good position to receive).
When we have the ball on the edges we sometimes didn't move to receive passes to the side, we stood too central and expected the ball to come to us. This put team mates under pressure with less options.
There was a few 4 on 2 attacks to them with most outfield players walking. WE NEED TO WORK HARD TO HELP! We cannot let us be out-gunned. We're lucky to get away with this each time we do. We'll lose if we rely on 'luck'.
when we're walking to position in dead ball situations we can still keep an eye on the game. Expect them to try and start quickly and be goal side of their runners/ marking.
Great come back guys. If we take on thing away it's: never give up, anything's possible! We're so good when we play as a TEAM!
