HOME - 9 a-side - U11's Girls Lionesses vs Kenilworth Wardens

Today we welcomed Kenilworth Wardens to our home ground for another 9 a side friendly.

With the same 11 starting the game as last week it was a pretty even start to the game.

Kenilworth has some skillful players and it took us a little while to get to grips in the game.

Mimi was playing well on the left wing and Mona was also doing the same on the right hand side. The ball was seemingly getting caught up a lot in the middle of the pitch, with lots of tackles and dribbles from both teams.

We opened the scoring with an old fashioned route one goal. Bella kicked long and the ball bounced over the defender and keeper allowing the alert Layla to finish.

The game was congested in midfield, but when we managed to move the ball more and utilise the wingers we were making good opportunities.

Kenilworth were awarded a penalty after a foul in our box. Bella stood up strong and saved the penalty.

HT 2-0

Second half started with some of the girls encouraging each other more, this was great to hear.

Kenilworth pulled a goal back with a deflection from our defender into the bottom corner.

Elysia scored a great goal for our third, showing great footwork to deceive the opponents keeper and finishing into an empty net.

Layla then added to our score line with a fine run and finish and Lacey then added our final goal not long after with a smart finish.

Game finished with Wardens getting a late goal to make the final score 5-2.

Superb work again from Emma in midfield who really drives the team on week after week, great work Emma !!! And equally same for Peyton who’s marshalling of our defence is developing nicely.

Bella was the player of the match, superb penalty save, improved distribution and bravery diving at players feet. Keep up the good work Bella !!

Parents player of the match was for Mimi. Always full of running and a great outlet on the left of midfield. Well done Mimi !!

We had a fun penalty shoot out at the end. Was good to see and learn from. We will be practicing penalties and be aiming for sides of the goal rather than straight at the keeper in the middle of the goal.
