Harefield United Red vs Goffs Oak Turquoise

Today we made the away trip to Harefield.

Having never played each other in a league game we didn’t quite know what to expect.

Before the game the girls warmed up well and all seemed positive and excited to get started.

The game started fast but we struggled to get out of our own half and keep control of the ball. Harefield managed to take the lead by a few simple mistakes from us.

Unfortunately A’ja had to come off with a head injury. Up until this point she had started well with some good vision finding some great diagonal passes for the wingers pressing forward.

Shortly after we were then awarded a penalty from a handball. Harmoni stepped up full of confidence and with a well struck shot buried it in the top left corner. Game on.

Between the quarters me and Paris reminded the girls how well they were playing and the game was an even battle and anyones to win. A few frustrated faces where decisions seemed to not go our way  today which was totally understandable.

We just reminded them to go out there and turn that frustration into passion.

Zuzanna in the centre midfield displayed exactly why she was awarded player of the match last week. Her first touch from passes and goal kicks were amazing. Her vision to play the ball forward to her team mates and helping out defensively again today was excellent.

Harefield then managed to score from a corner played to the front edge of the box.

An unfortunate goal to concede where we seemed to switch off and give their player to much time to control the ball and shoot.  Simple positioning where we need to make sure we get goal side of the opposition whether from open play when tracking back or making sure we stay the correct side of the player were marking from corners.

Final quarter the girls went out and played out of their skin. Bella with another well taken long goal kick out wide to the wing. Which was then played back into the centre where Ja’laysia who made a well timed run was in on goal and scored a well placed shot.

Harefield managed to score another which put us behind again.

There was another handball by the opposition this time just on the edge of the area in a great goal scoring position. Unfortunately for us the decision seemed to be ignored.

Another week where the game may have not gone our way but these last two weeks have shown us just how much they have improved. Both weeks with very tight score lines where the girls know they were so close to walking away with something.

The working together as a team and effort they are putting in has been great to watch.

A great game of football where both teams battled right to the final whistle.💜
