U12 Purple 24/25 - Bedmond
Today, the U11P faced Bedmond Youth in the first league game since Christmas.
We started off by doing a warm up drill which involved the girls doing a lot of passing and getting them to call each others name, as we are trying to get across how important communication is within a team.
As the first quarter kicked off I could tell the girls felt uncomfortable at first, as they was settling back into Saturday matches. After 4 minutes, Bedmond Youth got a good goal passed us. However, GOG didn’t give up, as Ruby went on to score our first goal to make it 1-1 only a few short minutes later.
The second and third quarter were great to watch, as the girls were working with one another, making accurate passes and getting multiple shots on target.
As we entered into the last quarter it was still 1-1, but we had a team talk at half time to really get them shots off when you can. Not only did the girls listen which concluded in Freya scoring a goal to make it 2-1, but they had so many opportunities in front of goal.
The final result was 2-1, making it our first league win. I am so impressed with how the girls have come on. Not only is it a great learning experience for the girls, but also us coaches as we’re learning what does/ doesn’t work. I can really see such a bright future for this team💜⚽️.
