Girls U10's - GNP U9’s
A closely fought game against GNP, a team we have faired very well against in our previous meetings. GNP had a couple of players available today who were missing from our last encounter and it showed as they looked a much stronger team.
The first five minutes were evenly matched with both teams competing well but it was Stockton who took the lead with a long range strike from Molly, a great finish ⚽️
GNP drew themselves level and just as the game was nearing half time they took the lead after a defensive mix up allowed them run through on goal.
Some fresh legs on for the 2nd half and we soon began to dominate the play and were rewarded with a goal from Sienna to draw us level, a composed finish when through on goal. Shortly afterwards and In similar fashion to our previous goal it was Molly who put us back in front , a ball cleared from defence by Edith through to Molly who was clean through on goal with the keeper to beat, a strong strike into the right corner. ⚽️
Chances were being created by both teams but it was GNP who brought themselves back level, a goal that could have been avoided after we struggled to clear the ball from the area. The girls kept working hard and as the clock ticked towards full time we again managed to overcome the defence with the winning goal from Ivy ⚽️ her reward for a non-stop display today earning her the managers player of the match.
A very entertaining game for all involved - well done girls.
