U13 Turquoise 24/25 - Borehamwood youth
today we travelled to borehamwood youth
We knew it wouldn’t be easy with their last result in the cup! But the girls were prepared for a tough game.
We started off strongly and you could see that we were up for it today!
straight from the off lexi went down the right a put a dangerous ball In the box only for the keeper to snuff it out.
A lot of our play was down the wings. Lexi and calleigh were both getting stuck in making tackles and linking up well with Alexia who was up front. Mia and pixie were both running their socks off. Intercepting balls and breaking up attacks in the middle of the pitch. We kept pushing but their keeper was good! And kept making vital saves or catching crosses.
we carried on and were being patient. Lexi hit a long distance effort but again the keeper saved it. Ettie came on and nearly broke the deadlock straight away but her little legs just didn’t have the power to beat the keeper after her forward run!
Alexia was making some great mazy runs and was giving the defense a torrid time. But we just couldn’t break them down.
The defense held their positions really well today and did all the simple things right!

At half time we told them to keep going and it would only be a matter of time! To keep the pressure up on the defense and to keep playing football the way we knew we could.
Phoebe came on in the second half and got a chance straight away but the ball went just wide. Mia and Lilly belle linked up well down the left and lillybelle found phoebe and this time she made it count finding the back of the net with a nice toe poke home! 0-1
that gave the girls an extra spark and we were all over them. Lexi whipped in a corner and pixie hit a great volley only for the keeper to make a great save again! Pixie again went through but this time her effort ricocheted off the defender and onto the bar. We were really turning the screw now and we’re not allowing them to play. When they did try to attack the defense were well up for the challenge and on the odd occasion it did go through Ellie was alert in goal and came off her line to clear the ball.
With about 20 minutes to go lexi got the ball on the left and made a defense splitting pass and alexia was on to it in an instant. With a lovely first touch and a nice finish to kill the game off and double our lead! ⚽️ 0-2
With 15 minutes to go we went 4 at the back and 4 in midfield to close the game and any hope of them getting back into it. the girls knew they had done enough and were very calm and disciplined in the way they held their formation and positions.
All in all todays game was brilliant! Each and every one of the girls did their job fantastically and all played a part in the win.
