U11 Turquoise 24/25 - Harefield
Today the U10 Turquoise hosted Harefield.
After our last two tight encounters we knew we were up for a great game of football.
With the sun finally shining we couldn’t have asked for better playing conditions.
Goffs started well with some excellent passing and created some excellent attacking chances.
Early in the second quarter Chloe was taken down in Harefield’s half and awarded a free kick.
With a great strike over their defence and keeper into the top corner Goffs took the lead. ⚽️
Harefield persisted on playing long balls to their lone striker they had left up top.
Luckily we had Lola marking her tightly and she was superb today keeping her out the game and winning every one of her 1v1 duels.
Halfway through the game Harefield had a chance which Bella reacted to well. She flew to the edge of her box and parried the ball away. Unfortunately for us their right winger made a driving run and managed to get the equaliser.
Zuzanna then out wide on the left managed to cut inside and powered a great shot across the Harefield goal. Unfortunately their keeper managed to push it onto the bottom of the post and out for a corner.
Third quarter we created chance after chance.
Ja’laysia with one of her great driving runs up the right wing fired just wide.
Moments later with another great strike in the bottom corner the keeper again managed to get down and push it onto the post once more.
Final quarter both teams went out looking for the winning goal.
With the ball in our box Harfield’s players were scrambling to get a touch but Bella reacted well and got down and held the ball well with both hands.
Last few minutes of the game both teams looked all but done.
We gave away a corner in the dying moments and Harefield’s winger put a great ball into the box that flew into the goal at the back post.
Although the result didn’t go our way today the coaches and girls were all happy with their performance. By far the deserved winners but it just wasn’t our day.
Todays player of the match went to Lola🏆
Her confidence on the ball when under pressure, driving runs forward from the back and a great shot from the halfway line that just went wide.
One of her best performances the season.
Well done Lola
