U16 JPL 24/25 - Broxbourne Pinks

So a short trip to our top of the table rivals Broxbourne was the challenge, and our girls were pumped from the start.

The home team started well with some good play down our right hand side,their tricky winger seeing lots of the ball but unfortunately for her Monica and Mia dealt with the sustained pressure really well and set the tone for the rest of the game.

Once we got a foothold in the game our attacking players Ciara ,Mia and Chloe were really stretching their defence with some great runs although without really testing their keeper.

The game ebbed and flowed but clear cut chances for both teams were scarce.

Into the second half and the home team’s central midfielder number 20 started having a real influence on the game with some great passing and her crossing from corners were causing us problems,a few changes were made and our confidence grew and now it was our turn to put them under pressure.

With our defence resolute and Mia and Ciara causing them problems again we fashioned a chance ,another great run down the wing from Mia who crossed to Chloe their centre half blocked the ball but couldn’t clear it properly and the ball rolled to Liv who from the edge of the box fired a fantastic shot which nestled in the top corner.0-1 to us bedlam followed with the  girls celebrating with a pile on!! 

15 minutes to hold out for our first win of the season and we were so close but we conceded a corner with two minutes to go,the aforementioned number 20 crossed a perfect corner which we couldn’t quite clear the ball falling to one of their players who had a tap in to equalise 1-1.

That’s how it finished but our girls we fantastic and IMO deserved the win.

Every member of the squad was great today and showed a real team spirit and togetherness .

Picking a player of the match was tough as their were some great performances .

Ava and Georgia are Ruby were a real force in midfield and the defence was so solid but we felt Mia deserved it not just for her attacking play but also her tracking back and overall work rate .
