Girls U11's Wildcats - Leafield Lasers
Wildcats continued our tour of the West Midlands with our sixth consecutive away match! Looking forward to a return to home next weekend. After a late change of opposition we faced an impressive Leafield Lasers team.
Leafield started strongly, pinned us back and led at half time - not a great first half from us but the smell of bacon from the food van spurred us on. 🥓
We started the second half much better. More pressure, quicker to every ball and better passing. Hattie and Brooke in particular winning the ball back a number of times. A brilliant through ball from Maisie cut through the Leafield defence and found Rosie who finished really well into the bottom corner! ⚽️
With 10 minutes to play we trailed by 2 goals but were still in the game. Emily had a great chance with a shot inside the box but the keeper saved well.
We fell apart a bit in the last 10 minutes as Leafield scored some rapid fire goals - 2 from the penalty spot.
We were denied a penalty of our own at the end - the Leafield defender blocking Hattie’s cross into the box with her hand. VAR!
Player of the match Hollie - trying out ‘sweeper-keeper’ in the first half. A couple of good saves and brilliant defending again in the second half.
