Apollo London FC - FC WOOD GREEN
A clear victory was achieved by the boys this afternoon after having performed very well during the away game vs FC Wood Green. In the first 10 mins our squad started playing nervously as they were struggling to develop the ball forward after the opponent pressed high to steal balls and create the chances for a goal. Slowly Apollonians obtained ball possession in the middle line and played successfully through the channels to create two good chances at the 15th and 22nd minute. The first goal came soon, at the 28th minute, after a straight strike attempt from our left winger outside the penalty box area with the ball slightly being deflected before ending in the opposite goals' nets. The Apollonians had a good tempo in the game pressing constantly in the middle line, passing quickly the ball and after missing two good chances they managed to score second goal at the 40th minute. Our forward directed low the ball into the penalty spot where the right winger as a trailer instantly finished.
The boys' performance was even better in the first half part of the second half. At the 50th minute the attacking line applying clinical and swift passing in small space forwarded the ball to our striker who efficiently scored the third goal at close distance from the opposite keeper in the 6-yard box area.
The goals crescendo continued and after 4 minutes our midlefielder clinically passed the ball through the channel to our striker who showed the right composure against the opposite keeper to score his personal second goal and fourth in the game. During the last 20 mins, the opponents decided to risk and play full attacking style thus leaving many gaps at their defending line. This costed them as at the 79th minute, in one of their counterattack attempts Apollonians swiftly forwarded the ball from the middle to the front line with our right winger making the final assist to our striker who proved his good dribbling skills to overtake the opponent keeper and finish towards the empty goal. A great save from our goalkeeper against a powerful shooting attempt from the top of the penalty box area was the most remarkable moment of the match 5 mins before the final whistle. Fifth victory in the League for our boys has brought them in the second position in the table. Following match is scheduled for next Saturday, 9th of November, in terms of the MCFL Division 1 Cup tournament.
