U16 JPL 24/25 - Hertford Town Girls

League Cup away   Hertford Town Girls 

Game underway and the girls were really at it all over the pitch from the off. Our middle pairing of Ava and Georgia where solid winning the ball and playing it forward with purpose. Ciara Chloe Mia and Ruby H were sharp and we felt it would only be a matter of time before we broke the deadlock. The home side barely caused our back 4 combination of Monica Olivia Charlotte Maddalena and Lois any real threat to the point their coach was heard saying any chance of us having a shot. The pitch wasn’t great and it was difficult to get a true run onto the ball and the closest we came to a goal was superb play down the right with a ball in the box which really bobbled in front of goal and we could not get a good connection to score. Another chance fell to Chloe who got a shot off that got blocked somehow and then there was a real dubious decision where we put pressure on the defender who played an over hit ball back to the keeper who fumbled pulled a face as if the ball had crossed the line then cleared it. HT 0-0 Second half we started a little slowly but soon found our rhythm and from then in totally dominated the game Ruby S was playing the 10 role and between her Ava and Georgia the link up play and passes through the lines were fantastic. Chloe pace today was unreal and we were sure she’d find the net but today the woodwork was her nemesis she hit the crossbar and right upright 3 times and her best chance from the right just whisked past the left upright. The home side finally had a shot but Leyla was there to take it with ease. Penalties were looming and then Ciara won the ball edge of the box on left cut in and just got under the ball to go over the bar. FT 0-0

Georgia steps up needing this for the win and there was no mistake there 2-4 win on pens. Not the way you want to win but today the best team won the match. 

POTM today was a 3 way split Monica played at right back right wing and number 10 role and today was so powerful down the right side all game. Gutsy to take pen first and truly deserved. 

Ava was so solid in middle of park with and array of fantastic passes throughout the game. Since becoming a captain her levels and commitment to the team have just got better every week. 

Georgia today was spoken to before the game the message was clear today’s your day I need you in the middle with Ava today show me that tenacity and play going forward and wow she gave everything today for her team. Strong in the tackle, passing range was superb and the desire to go win the ball was ever present.
