U12 Cougars - Ashford Town Colts
Excellent performance today by the team. In amazing weather conditions and on a slow pitch, some of the football was just incredible to watch. Just five mins in to the game Cougars found themselves two goals up as we got out of the blocks very quickly and dominated the ball.
Logan opened his account for the season after just 3 mins from wide right after excellent work from Jake. Jake then got himself on the scoresheet after a lovely Cougars passing move which Jake finished in style. At this point it looked like Ashford Town would struggle to stay in the game by the end of the first quarter!
However to be fair to Ashford, which is a mix of U9 and U10 players, battled hard and seemed to galvanise against constant Cougars pressure, and the danger man, Christian, picked up the ball on the half way line making a mazey run beating 3 players before finishing low to Rocky’s left hand side.
It wasn’t until min 35 that Cougars made the superiority count and after weathering a bit of pressure and a couple of vital saves from Rocky to keep us in the lead. Oscar finding Logan for his second of the game and a goal that seemed to break the will of Ashford.
Cougars added four more goals inside 12 more minutes with Logan grabbing another two and Louie and Rory adding to the goals for column.
Logan’s third was the pick of the bunch with a stunning strike from the edge of the box into the keepers top right hand corner, unstoppable and Cougars playing with their tails up and a joy to watch.
Ashford grabbed one back in the last minute after Oscar tried to dance his way between the two Ashford attackers, losing the ball and a good finish from the forward.
It was a dominant performance and makes it two from two for the season. Tougher challenges lie ahead starting with next weeks game away to Chessington.
