Vs Monasteravin . League Away

After last week's disappointment against Old Fort, Naas management wanted a strong reaction from the lads this week.

Unfortunately, that certainly did not happen in the first half. Naas started tentatively and went behind to a cracking goal inside 10 minutes, from the oppositions best player. That woke the boys up and we started to create some chances. Cian Leonard and Max Galvin played two outrageous passes which resulted in James mcgrath and Aaron o donnell going close. Naas defence did not learn from the first goal and failed to deal with the Monasteravin  No.10 again who broke down the left side and wiped a shot into the fair corner of the net. 2-0.

For the last 15 minutes of the half, Naas dominated, and had 4 or 5 really good chances, and finally pulled one back from James McGrath, who slotted home from six yards, following good work on the right from Sean Stafford and Aaron o donnell.

Second half, and Naas upped the anty and continued to press. Again we let 3-4 good chances slip by before the equaliser arrived. The opposition defence looked to go back to their goalkeeper, but left it short, which James mcgrath pounced on, to claim his second of the day.

Tackles were starting to fly in and the referee had to dish out some yellow cards to both sides.  After another period of sustained pressure, Naas won another corner. Adam Bracken delivered a lovely ball, which was not dealt with, and Ned Keogh was on hand from 8 yards out to sweep the ball into the net.

Monasteravin were reduced to 10 men, after James mcgrath was taken down when he was clean through on goal. Naas spurred several clear cut chances and the Monasteravin goal led a charmed life. On another day Naas would have scored another 3 or 4 more.

Whilst the performance was sloppy, the lads showed great heart to come back from 2-0 to win 3-2!!!

Best for Naas on the day were Max Galvin, James McGrath and Tadgh Fennell. Special mention to Andrew O Toole who did a fine job as stand in keeper for the day.
