London Eagles FC v EFA

The hard work has finally paid off.

For the last few weeks the team have been consistently improving. They have not only frown as individuals but as a team and have been putting in some very good performances but the win still alluded them. That changed today.

From minute one, they all showed true focus, detrimimation and confidence. Everything from the press, the tempo, off the ball movement and tracking back was on point. They dominated this match with the opposition only managing a couple of shots at goal towards the end of the game.

The first half was very impressive. The boys controlled the ball for the majority of the time and made great use of the wings in order to penertrate the defence. There was some fantastic movement on the ball as well some very smart passes that utilised the space. The pressure finally paid off with two goals towards the end of the half. I would also like to highlight how important the defensive players amd the gk was during this game. Although they did not always have much to do, the stayed switched on and always managed to deny the opposition chances. That focus is the sign of a good player. They consistently not only kept the opposition out but started our attacks at a fantastic pace.

The second half was similar to the first. The third goal we scored was a prime example of how we should be playing. We made numerous fast paced passes as well as making brilliant movement off the ball which pulled the opposition defense apart. It was a brilliant team goal. The goal we conceded was the only lapse of concentration in the game. The goalie made a good save but there was lack of urgency to get the rebound away. The boys did well after that though and kept their composure. The 4th goal was another example of good build up play.

Today was such an important day for the team. This season has been tough but progress has undoubtedly been made. They have brought into the philosophy and have confidence in themselves at last. They should be very proud of themselves, I know I am.
