Boys U15 (2010) Premier - Kilcock
On a windy but dry Saturday afternoon, Naas Prem had there second match on the season finally!!!
Game started at a reasonable pace with Naas largely dominating the ball and territory. Against the run of play Kilcock opened the scoring with a fantastic goal on the counter to be fair. Credit to the Naas lads, it did not rattle them and they went about their business from the tip off.
The equalizer was rather lucky. The ref blew for a free outside the box as he had judged the Kilcock keeper had carried the ball outside the box. Aaron O Donnell stepped up and stroked the ball into the bottom corner. Just the break that Naas needed. Naas went 2-1 up with a contender for goal of the season. Adam Bracken and Aaron O Donnell combined in midfield well, Aaron made his way to the edge of the box and unleashed a thunderbolt which hit the up corner. Most of the Naas support missed the goal as it happened so fast!!!
Naas were now into their flow and the 3rd was not long arriving. Donnacha Hickey held the ball up well, and played to ball into Sean Stafford, Sean worked some magic dragged the ball across to his left, and hit a low drive into the bottom corner. The 4th was a lovely worked goal- ball was played out from Freddie Cowdell, who got forward very well from the back, worked a combination with Max Galvin, who slipped Aaron O Donnell down the channel. Aaron whipped a wicked ball across the face of goal for the on-rushing Evan Malone to slide the ball into the net. Cracking football.
Naas were not done and just before half time, Naas again worked the ball out wide, where Sean Stafford delivered a great ball in, which came back off the bar, Max Galvin was on hand to tap in from 3 yards.
Second half, Naas dominated and played some lovely free flowing football, but could not put the ball away. Naas brought on the cavalry, in Cian Leonard and Oisin Lynch in midfield, who both made their presence felt, against some agricultural tackles. Lochlainn Quinn provided some excellent link play up top and gave Naas an outlet.
The only goal of the second half arrived with about 14 minutes to go. Oisin Lynch and Cian Leonard worked some nice stuff in the middle and got the ball to Adam Bracken, who from 30 yards out hit a screamer into the top corner.
Naas had 6-7 more good chances but could not find the net again. Our defence and goalkeeper had very little to do in the second half, but were assured in everything they did. James "Chopper" Lennon made sure Kilcock did not score when he marginally mistimed a tackle on a through ball over the top from Kilcock. Kilcock got a free, James a yellow card, but his goal was not breached.
Best for Naas on the day were Evan Malone, Sean Stafford, Cian Leonard & Aaron O Donnell.
