Boys U10's Lightning - Upper Lighthorne u9

With perfect playing conditions the boys were really excited to get this game underway. They did not disappoint.

From the start, they worked really hard in closing the opposition down and not really giving them time on the ball. When the ball was at our feet, we drove the ball deep into the opposition half with great link up play from our midfielders. After many close chances Stockton opened the scoring with a tap in from Albie after Olly was denied by some good goalkeeping. With the last phase of the first half, a goal kick had a big bounce that set the opposition on a 1 v 1 with our GK, making it all square at half time.

Stockton piled on the pressure from the start of the second half, with Jenson scoring the goal of the game with a top bins effort from outside the penalty area. Soon after, Nel slotted in his first goal of the season. The passion shown in his celebration was a joy to watch. As the game was coming to an end, Rocco drilled in a low shot from the edge of the area to round off a great morning of football. 

With four different goalscorers shows how hard everyone is playing for each other with their work rate, communication, and commitment on the pitch improving each week. Every player deserves player of the match today!
