U13 Purple 24/25 - Bury Rangers Tigresses
💜GOG U12 purple v Bury Rangers Tigresses💜
Due to a change of timings we had an issue getting a full squad today. With only 9 players being available we were expecting the game be tough for our girls.
Pre match warm up we spoke about how it was important to be more joint up today than we’ve ever been before. We needed to pass, communicate and play with real heart, and the girls were buzzing to get on the pitch.
We started with a minute silence and on the refs whistle we kicked off.
We started with a 3-4-1 formation but kick off we were a bit slow. We seemed to be panicking when we got the ball and not scanning the pitch or passing very well. Bury were fast and as soon as we had possession they were straight on us. 15 minutes in and something wasn’t working so I made the call to change up the formation. We changed to 3-3-2 to provide more support to Katie up front, allowing Ta’lia in centre mid to press up more and Lexi in centre back to move forward into the danger zone. It clicked and now we started to see real football being played! 💜
The last 15 mins of the first half was awesome. We were playing simple but effective football. We saw an amazing partnership between Gracie up front and Sarah on the right wing. Some brilliant through balls, some pass backs and excellent communication. Chelsea was on it with defence getting balls out, Ta’lia was running her socks off and Holly was running down the wing creating chances for our strikers.
half time it was 0:0
Within the first minute of the second half, Sophie take a great goal Kick directly to Gracie. With some fabulous footwork and searching for her team mates, she saw Katie, made a cross and with a strong strike Katie hit the back of the net!! ⚽️🦩
7 minutes later with the ball being passed down from the back it made its way to Holly who crossed the ball into the middle. Lexi had pushed up from defence to get more stuck in and she was in the right place at the right time. She took a touch and banged the ball into the net!! ⚽️💜
The next ten minutes was great football. Both teams were really battling and not giving up. Bury had used all their subs, they were fresh and we were getting tired but we didn’t give up. Unfortunately we conceded a goal but we kept battling with heart and the hard work paid off.
bury came at us, but Chelsea was there and locked down on the ball. She made a lovely long ball out and it was a race to take possession. Burys three defenders were up against Katie, but she kept herself composed, took possession and got her second GOALLLLLL! ⚽️💜🦩
We knew with only a few minutes to go we were on our way to get the win but that wasn’t going to make us slow down. We kept playing beautiful football and with another great set up from Gracie to Katie, we saw her get her hatrick!!! ⚽️⚽️⚽️ The girls went wild!!! 😍
Full time 4:1
I cannot express how proud I am of the girls. With only 9 players and with a few injuries, a nosebleed on the pitch and a couple of our girls generally not feeling well they showed what they can do when they work together and put into place everything we’ve been working on. These girls are showing real grit and resilience on the pitch and they got the win that they truly deserved today. 💜
