Girls U11's Wildcats - Coventry City Blue
It was the Sky Blues vs the Wildcats this morning and in the first half, the Sky Blues were expectedly very impressive - their passing and movement was fantastic and they scored some great goals.
At half time, our target was simply to perform better in the second half than we did in the first. Every single player did that and the Wildcat's should be really proud of their second half performance against a very strong team. We were quicker, stronger and so much more competitive. Hatty in particular never stopped running and got really stuck in which made all the difference against a team that were very physical.
We've been working on passing the ball though midfield into space for the attackers to run on to. Maisie did just that 1 minute into the second half, a brilliant forward pass cut straight through the Coventry team for Lily-Rae to beat the goalkeeper with a good finish. The same forward ball from the defence and midfield nearly paid off a number of times. Later in the half Maisie and Emily both came close to scoring from really well struck free kicks. Hollie kept Coventry out with an amazing amount of saves in goal - she was determined to stop them scoring. It took a really unfortunate own goal right at the end to prevent us from winning the half.
Well done Wildcats!
