Girls U11's Wildcats - Wellesbourne Wanderers
Goals galore this afternoon as the Wildcats dished out a hammering to Wellesbourne. Our performance against them 4 weeks ago was good but we came away perhaps a little bit disappointed not to have scored more than 3 goals… not so today though. We were ruthless!
It took us 9 minutes to find the first goal - and in that 9 minutes the Wellesbourne keeper had already made a number of super saves to keep Rosie, Hattie and Maisie out.
Wellesbourne simply couldn’t get forward as we kept them pinned back inside their own half. Lily-Rae in goal in the first half didn’t have a save to make.
2-0 up at half time.. good but not good enough! We wanted more goals!
Second half Wellesbourne had a decent shot from the halfway line but it was easily saved by Emilie-Rose.
Then we turned on the style scoring 4 goals in the first 15 minutes and a further 5 goals in the last 5 minutes.
Credit to Wellesbourne, especially the goalkeeper, for keeping going - they decided not to make full use of the ‘power-play’ rule which would have allowed them to bring extra players on for each goal when we reached 4-0. Big mistake really.. the rule is there for a reason!
Brooke scored her first goal for the team today and then a minute later scored her second!
2 goals also for Maisie, 1 for Captain Hattie.
Hat tricks for both Rosie and Lily-Rae.
The race for top goalscorer for the season is hotting up!
