Rising Hope Mambas (year 6 Sept 2024) - Thrapston Owls

Thrapston Owls 2-4 Mambas
Great result, last time we played Owls we drew 1-1, today we got a deserved win.
We decided to go 3 at the back instead of the 4 we've been playing to fit the boys we had available and it worked well for us although we did look too open at times.
A first half goalfest saw us take the lead through Oscar P, before Owls pulled one back. It was a little scrappy but we were looking dangerous going forward and our midfield and forwards were working hard. Our 2nd was another long range effort from Harry (second week in a row), followed up with a good finish from Oscar OB to make it 3-1 and we looked in control of the game. We then lost a second, a high shot leaving Alfie no chance, before Nathan, the high press working well, finishing for our 4th HT 2-4.
Second half we were passing the ball about a lot better, looking up finding space, things we are working on in training. But we were living dangerously playing too high a line, that said Harry's recovering runs and tackles and Alfie coming off his line to win the ball was brilliant. Kayne with his speciality line clearances and everyone working hard meant we were able to see a competitive second half out 0-0 and win the game FT2-4.
We were definitely the better team overall in terms of quality. Good to see parents respect the silent weekend, I think us coaches tried our best but never easy not to complain about at least one decision 😆
