Girls U12 (Born 2013) - Sallins

Match Report: Sallins vs Naas
Sallins vs Naas lived up to their previous encounters of entertaining games. The game flowed back and forward with Naas very unlucky to come away from the game with at least a draw for all their efforts and great play.
First Half Highlights:
Naas came out of the blocks quickly like their previous game with Newbridge, with Kate Gallagher going on a solo run beating 4 Sallins players but denied by the goalkeeper, it would definitely had been a candidate for goal of the season if that had went in.
Against the run of play, the direct style of Sallins paid off with an early goal (8 mins). Sallins followed up a few mins later with another chance but were denied by Naas everpresent goalkeeper Lauren O'Reilly who had another excellent game.
Naas again went on the front foot with great work between Sara, Amelia, Kate and Rosie in midfield. Kayleigh Farrell went close a few times and never stopped running the channels up front all evening.
A pivotal moment in the game was when Sallins broke free against the run of play again and slotted home for a 2-0 (23 mins) lead. Despite being unlucky and 2 down to an early lead, Naas were solid at the back with Grace, Claire, Annabel and Laurel all having great games.
Naas fired back quickly with great goal from Rosie McDaid (25 mins) to leave the score 2-1. Naas went close again before half time through Katie Diver who was an everpresent threat to the Sallins defence.
Second Half Highlights:
Naas rang the changes in second half introducing Faye, Evie and Alannah who brought stability and energy looking for that equaliser. Cora Morgan was introduced as well and was a threat up front in looking for that goal.
Naas were definitely the stronger team in the second half. Kate and Rosie had further chances. Laurel White pushed the play into the Sallins half for nearly all of the second half. Amelia was always a threat on the right wing. Sara was getting the better of Sallins midfield but despite all their efforts Naas could not break down the solid Sallins defence.
It was a brilliant performance from Naas who were unlucky not to come away with a result. You could see all the teamwork, determination, great style of play that will be rewarded to them in the future. Congrats to all!
