Boys U15 (2010) Premier - St Joseph's (Athlone)
What could have been a tricky away assignment for the lads, turned out to be an romp for the away team, who bagged 8 goals!!
Management asked for a fast start today, and the boys delivered in spades, by hitting 4 goals in the first 11 minutes, to end the game as a contest.
The first two goals came in the first 3 minutes courtesy of a brace from Ned Keogh. Ned too both goals very well and showed a real sharpness up top today, Both goals settled Naas down and they started to play lovely football, with the midfield engine of Aaron, Adam and Cian pulling the strings.
The 3rd came from Aaron O Donnell. Ben Harrington stepped forward from the back and the ball came to Aaron, who decided to beat 3 men and slot past the keeper from 8 yards. WORLDY!! The 4th came following a lovely flowing move down the left, following good work from Adam Bracken and Sean Stafford, the ball was slid in for James McGrath, james did what he does best, score goals, and slotted the ball past the helpless keeper. Naas were completely on top and kept piling on the pressure.
The 5th came midway through the half, following a sublime flick from Ned Keogh sent Aaron O Donnell through on goal. Aaron made no mistake to bag his second. Ned Keogh decided the match ball was his, and get his hat trick, following some lovely football from Sean Haugh and Cian Leonard on the right,
Second half was a quieter affair and management emptied the bench and brought on fresh legs. Credit to St Josephs who kept battling and never gave up. Naas were sloppy in possession for 15-20 minutes but got there act together for the last 15 minutes. Max Galvin worked some magic on the left and cracked a rocket off his left peg, which came off the underside of the bar. The 7th arrived midway through the half, an sublime ball down the channel by Max Galvin for James McGrath to stretch his legs, and slide the ball past the keeper. The last goal arrived following some lovely build up play at the back from Evan Moriarty and ben Harrington, the ball was played to Adam Bracken who played a peach of a pass through to Lochlainn Quinn- who was upended by the keeper. Lochlainn dusted himself down, gave the keeper the eyes and put it coolly into the net.
Best for Naas today- Ben Harrington grew into the game and looked very assured at the back, midfield 3 dominated, Max Galvin was excellent on the left. James McGrath and Ned Keogh were unplayable up top!!
