Naas White v Allenwood

A fresh October saw Naas Whites line up against Allenwood under the floodlights in Naas Sports Centre. Naas, unbeaten in 2 games started brightly with Kaspian Zielenski springing the offside trap after a sublime through ball from Ben Cox to go one on one with the keeper and slot the ball past him into the net. 1-0 up after only 3 minutes! GAME ON!!!!! Allenwood took this as a personal insult and laid siege to the Naas goal bringing out some great saves from goalkeeper Hayden Taaffe. In fairness to Allenwood they could have scored 3 or 4 goals on another night. The pressure was relentless but Naas managed to absorb the pressure to go in 1-0 up at half time.

The second half started evenly with both teams probing for a goal. That goal came courtesy of a lapse in concentration in the Naas defense. The ball was whipped in from the wing catching Conor OToole on the back of the head and squeezing past the fingertips of the Naas keeper. 1-1 and Allenwood had the bit between their teeth. It didn't take them long to put their noses ahead. The Allenwood team found their left winger (who was a constant threat) as he was bearing down on goal Conor OToole hit him with a fair shoulder only for the referee to blow it up for a penalty. Allenwood made noistake for the penalty spot and dispatched the ball into the net. In fairness to the Naas team, it would have been easy for them to drop their head and even when Allenwood made it 3-1 the Naas team continued to rally.

The game swung in Naas' favour and a ball into Kaspian Zielenski turned into a golden opportunity with Zielenski poking the ball into the net to make it 3-2. Allenwood looked spooked and a mistake by their keeper presented Daniel Shelley with a golden opportunity which he despatched with ease tying the game up at 3-3. There was no time for much more football and the game finished with a fair 3-3 result. What a team performance by the "never say die" Naas team.

Notable players for Naas were Daragh Nolan, Jacob Abella, Daniel Grant and MOTM Kaspian Zielenski.
