U13 Turquoise 24/25 - LDGA
today we hosted LDGA.
with being rememberence weekend the girls all wore black armbands with poppies on and both teams observed a minutes silence before the game. All the girls and supporters observed it fantastically well and you could have heard a pin drop.
Having played them previously we knew it would be hard fought game. Last time we played them was at their place on a smaller pitch than we are used to! So being at home on our bigger pitch we expected a good performance. And the girls didn’t disappoint us. The first 5/10 minutes were abit meh. The pitch was wet and seemed heavy under foot but once the girls got to grips with the conditions they came into their own. Our passing game was fluent and the girls were using every inch of the pitch to the max. We got the ball out wide right and Lexi whipped in a great cross.so much so it bounced and evaded everyone and flew straight into the far corner! ⚽️1-0
We carried on pressing forward and had a barrage of corners which today for some reason weren’t what they normally are! But again lexi whipped one in and once again it went all the way through and into the far corner! ⚽️ 2-0 you could say our first two goals were lucky but tbh you make your own luck and way we were playing we we’re definitely good for the lead we had. half time
At half time I told the girls to carry on how we were. Keep using the wings and keep playing our game as we know we can. We changed a few things up with girls playing in different positions. We went out and into the second half looking to kill off the game. We started strongly and went straight on to the attack again and again. I don’t think any of the girls who went In goal today faced a single shot in the whole game! Which shows how well the midfield and defense did their jobs. Some nice play down the right and alexia broke through to shoot only for the keeper to parry it out but Pheobe was alert to it and followed in to tap home our 3rd ⚽️3-0
We carried on and had a few more shots but they didn’t quite have the power or accuracy to trouble the keeper. Once again alexia got the ball on the edge of the box and went inbetween two defenders and was taken down! Penalty. Alexia stepped up and slotted it into the bottom corner! The keeper didn’t even move.⚽️ 4-0
Todays game saw some of our best football this season! The sky’s the limit for these girls and if they keep believing in themselves we will up there challenging come the end of the season. we go again next week.
